The famous New England poet, Robert Frost has never been one of my favorite poets, but I kept coming across his poetry or name in a short period of days recently and on top of that, a good friend of mine around the same time shared about his poem, “A Considerable speck” in conversation. My friend even had a part of the poem memorized, recited it to me, and then proceeded to share that she has been reading, The Poetry of Robert Frost: The Collected Poems by Robert Frost and edited by Edward Connery Lathem. I too decided to dive into Frost’s poetry and learn with an open mind.

While Frost is still not one of my favorite poets, I greatly appreciate his use of meters like iambic pentameter, conversational style, narrative structure, and use of natural imagery. There is no denying that Frost often tells a story in his poetry and his appreciation of nature speaks great volumes to the soul. I definitely have some favorites that stand out to me, but imagine those favorites might change over time and I expect different happenings in life may spark remembrances of Frost’s words. Impressively, I learned in reading the book jacket and description that Robert Frost is the only writer awarded four Pulitzer Prizes.
