Last month, we saw “Grease” at the Weathervane Playhouse in Newark, Ohio. It was directed by Brian Gray, musically directed by Kevin Wines, and choreographed by Conner Triplett. The book, music, and lyrics by Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey. The acting and performances stood out to us and were most enjoyable.
Even though some of the actors did not fit the roles of the original movie cast, they still were endearing in their own way and the acting was solid. The choreography was a lot of fun! The only room for improvement that we noticed were the costumes and some wigs, but accessibility can be a factor there we realize. At intermission, we enjoyed viewing the various artwork in the lobby, named after characters in the play. It was a delightful escape into the 1950s “Grease” world for an evening.
