Discipline = Freedom (Field Manual MK1-MOD1 Expanded Edition is written by Jock Willink, an American author, podcaster, and retired United States Navy officer who served the Navy Seals and is a former member of SEAL Team 3. Included in the operation were Leif Babin, and Chris Kyle (Platoon “Charlie”) to name a heroic few!
Jocko’s first book Extreme Ownership: How U.S. Navy Seals Lead and Win was well written by Jocko’s & Leif’s experience and wisdom in Ar Ramadi, Iraq. They used that experience to develop a tactical plan for the individual to advance and overcome obstacles they face in either personal or business by taking extreme ownership. There are three parts in the chapter of this book. (Part I) Winning The War Within (Part II) Laws of Combat (Part III) Sustaining Victory. This is a great read and I highly recommend it also you would be supporting a vet and helping yourself out!
The next book Jocko wrote is Discipline Equals Freedom: Field Manual. This book included motivational quotes and sayings. This book is a go-to in a quick paragraph or two when needed. It gives you insights into Jocko’s, leadership method, and the qualities he has carried with him on his missions.
The Dichotomy of Leadership: Balancing the Challenges of Extreme Ownership to Lead and Win. This book also goes into Jocko’s & Leif’s experiences in Ramadi and is also broken down into three sections. (Part I) Balancing People (Part II) Balancing the Mission Part III) Balancing Yourself. This is also a great read for the individual or business seeking personal/tactical skills on becoming better by viewing the dichotomy of focused areas in life. It’s in the balance!
The Fourth book by Jocko is Leadership Strategy and Tactics: Field Manual (2020). Written in simple and concise terms. He covers the fundamental and advanced strategies in leadership and steps on how to get an individual or business up to speed.
These are the four books I recommend if, one wants to advance in any area or obstacles in life.
“There is no growth in the comfort zone.” “Your success, or lack of success, is your responsibility.” STAND TO: GET SOME!
