The 2023 Japanese film, GODZILLA MINUS ONE is one of the best films of the year. In fact, I think it was the best film of the year! The movie is full of heart, depth, history, and for the first time, due to the perspective of authentic cinematography, I really thought, ‘Wow, what would I do if that massive creature was after me?!’. Whether you’re a Godzilla fan or have never seen a Godzilla movie in your life, a broad range of viewers enjoy this film, as it’s action with heart and history with depth of the human spirit!
We went to see the brief showing of GODZILLA MINUS ONE, MINUS COLOR last month (January of 2024) and noticed different aspects of the film being in black and white. I, personally, found the action scenes in the water to be extra striking to the eye, but somehow, Godzilla lost his grandeur a bit for me. Perhaps, because it was not in color as I see the world, so he did not seem as real to me. Regardless, we enjoyed seeing both versions of the film and hope they release a Blu-ray offering the original version in color, as well as the “minus color” version.
