Last Saturday, we took a road trip to Groveport, Ohio to visit Motts Military Museum for the first time.  We found the amount of artifacts on display most impressive!  Historic pieces dating back to 1776 up through modern day are included in this diverse museum.  Some of the objects included are hairs from the heads of George Washington and Abraham Lincoln, a drum used during the Civil War, Ulysses S. Grant’s campaign flags, and personal items used in NASA’s space program.  We happened to be visiting when the Founding Director, Warren Mott was offering to show a fire truck involved in the emergency response team on 9/11.  This is one special and large addition to the museum that will be displayed in the future along with many other 9/11 pieces.  Warren Mott also generously gave us a tour of the Rickenbacker house (many of American Fighter Pilot, Eddie Rickenbacker’s items are included in this replica home).  We learned a lot more about him; we now plan to watch the movie based on his life: Captain Eddie starring Fred MacMurray.  The education, preservation, and connections made through this museum are much appreciated and respected!  It is going to take more than this one trip to soak up everything in this museum.

Little Italy Ristorante

After a solid three hours at the museum, we were hungry, so we chose to eat at a nearby locally owned restaurant that got its start in 1979 as a pizza parlor within the same family as the current owner. It is special and admirable to see a quality business stay in the family after all of these years.  With time, the menu has expanded to include salads, pastas, and sub sandwiches.  Little Italy Ristorante is located at 480 Main St. in Groveport, Ohio.  More details and history are available on Little Italy Ristorante’s website.

Each of us selected the Fettuccine El Forno, which consists of their homemade pasta, secret sauce recipe, crushed meatballs, and topped with cheese.  I opted to make it a “Supreme”, which took the cheesy goodness a step further with the addition of ricotta cheese.  A breadstick and side salad (topped with flavorful mozzarella and little dried pepperoni) were also delicious.  We plan to return to try their popular pizza and of course, more pasta!
