It is 3:00 a.m., May 4th, I woke to Marckey, our almost two-year-old dog, having to go out to use the restroom but only to come back in to have him pee on the bed. So, we changed the sheets, and my wife went back to bed as I decided to stay up and go to my office and finally read the final chapter in Matthew McConaughey’s book “Greenlights’ ‘ ‘he wrote on May 8th, 2019.
This book was very inspiring. Matthew talks about his inspirations, goals, and perspectives that made him out to be what he is today. He talks about triumphs and failures, when red and cautionary lights eventually turned to green. How true is that for me and my life’s story. We all have those setbacks that turn into triumph. That is part of this scripted story we call LIFE.
I can relate to this autobiography and reflect on many times that life had thrown me a twist, not to stop me but to give me the nudge to say WAIT the light will eventually turn GREEN. And always has.
Relatively, we are livin’ Life is our resume’. It is our story to tell, and the choices we make write the chapters. Can we live in a way where we look forward to looking back?” – Matthew McConaughey – GREENLIGHTS
I am glad I read this book. It hit home for me. I felt it calling for me to READ, LEARN, and REFLECT. The science of satisfaction, as Matthew put it, is about learning when, and how, to get a handle on the challenges we face in life. When you can design your own weather, blow in the breeze. When you’re stuck in a storm, pray for luck and make the best of it. We all have scars, we’ll get more. So rather than struggle against time and waste it, let’s dance with time and redeem it, because we don’t live longer when we try not to die, we live longer when we’re too busy livin’.
