At the beginning of August, we spent a night at the theatre in Newark, Ohio’s Weathervane Playhouse. “The Addams Family” proved to be a dark comedy musical with a creatively quick, functional, and eye appealing set design. The actors all seemed to be having a good time, which was contagious for the audience. I laughed out loud periodically throughout the show. Artwork by a local artist in unison with the theme of the show was on display in the lobby and available for purchase. I was tempted by a painting of Cousin It, who as a side note, sadly, did not make an appearance in the show; we were also disappointed that THING was not represented in any way. However, even with our disappointments, we enjoyed the show. After intermission, we appreciated the extra treat of the permission to take our bottled water and Sour Patch Kids candy into the auditorium to snack on while we watched the rest of the production.
That sounds like fun.
