We started the weekend off right by stopping at Used Kids Records in Columbus; we did not purchase anything, but it was still fun to look around. Next, we stopped to eat a scrumptious home-style dinner and browse the “old country store” at Cracker Barrel in Sunbury and then made a quick run into the Puma store at the Tanger Outlet Stores. We were running a little late, as we had too much fun shopping, and quickly headed to Ohio Wesleyan University’s Perkins Observatory in Delaware for the 9-11:00 pm program. Hiram Perkins of Ohio Wesleyan University founded the Perkins Observatory in 1923. The OWU Physics and Astronomy Department uses the observatory for research and as an educational facility. Are you interested in Astronomy like the two of us? This observatory also offers public programs. Most Friday nights, the Perkins Observatory hosts programs. We enjoyed a planetarium-style show on a flat screen, exploring around the Observatory and library, and looking through the 32-inch Schottland Telescope and some other ‘scopes to see the stars up close. Tickets are a reasonable price of $10 each and available for purchase by phone with a credit/debit card. We found this to be an interesting and informative program and a delightful way to spend a Friday night.
