Saturday, we thoroughly enjoyed our time at the Newark-Heath Airport Treneff Field located in Heath, Ohio for their celebration in completing the Licking County’s new airport terminal. We saw up close the ‘Wings of Flight’, which highlighted military, corporate, and private aircrafts including historical and modern.
We also enjoyed viewing several pristine and gorgeous cars as part of the ‘Wheels of Yesteryear’ Car Show. Over 100 cars participated and we really enjoyed speaking with some of the owners and learned from them and their stories. An Open House provided an open tour of the new terminal that we only saw from the outside and additional exhibits and artifacts were also on display and available for viewing. The live music provided by a few different bands was upbeat and added a fun atmosphere for all. This was such a nice time and the fact that it was FREE made it even better and more appreciated.
Afterward, we took a little drive to Velvet Ice Cream-“Home of Ye Olde Mill” in Utica, Ohio and were very happy with our lunch: Cinnamon Raisin Turkey sandwich & a hamburger with chips were our entrees and our dessert selections were a Waffle Toffee Sundae and scoops of vanilla ice cream topped with caramel. That sundae was one of the best sundaes I have ever eaten! Velvet makes their own waffle bowls; we smelled them when we first entered the ice cream parlor. In addition, with a lovely atmosphere designed by including a pond full of ducks, a working running mill, live music performances, and a lovely harvest photo op made up of pumpkins, gourds, and corn in the bed of a pickup truck, as well as a rocking chair for seating, we had a truly pleasant time.
A very interesting day. I didn’t know Velvet made sandwiches too. I’ll have to visit again
