New Band, Echelon 2049’s New Album, “Cepheus 82821” is Out of This World!

If song titles like “Ecliptic Moonset”, “Portal”, “Quantum Interference”, “Unidentified”, and “Starfire” don’t raise your curiosity, maybe the fact in learning some listeners share that Echelon 2049’s music decreases their stress levels will peak your interest. The atmospheric, space, and experimental music sounds like it should be a movie or video game soundtrack. Give this soothing music a listen, you’ll be glad you did as the creative melding of sounds synthesizer music calms the listener.

Piece of Mind is the fourth studio album by Iron Maiden. It was released on 16 May 1983 in the United Kingdom by EMI Records and in the United States by Capitol Records. It was the first album to feature drummer Nicko McBrain.

Piece of Mind was a mostly critical and commercial success, reaching number three on the UK Albums Chart and achieving platinum certification in the UK and North America.

My Favorite is “Where Eagles Dare” based on the Brian G. Hutton 1968 film, scripted by Alistair MacLean.

This is the 40th Anniversary expanded release of John Carpenter’s The Fog Original Motion Picture Score from Waxwork Records. It features a 180 gram double LP album, colored vinyl, deluxe packaging, a 12”x12” twelve page booklet including unreleased behind-the-scenes set photography, and full album artwork by Jérémy Pailler.

I am a big fan of John Carpenter’s work in film as well as music. His unique and stylish approach in synthesizers is very unique and fit all his films great!

The Fog is a 1980 supernatural horror film directed by John Carpenter starring Adrienne Barbeau, Jamie Lee Curtis, Tom Atkins, Janet Leigh and Hal Holbrook. The movie is about a glowing fog that sweeps over a small coastal town in Northern California. It brings with it the vengeful ghosts of leprous mariners who were killed in a shipwreck there about a century before.

The movie was filmed in the spring of 1979.

We had a fun evening at Natalie’s Grandview- Music Hall & Kitchen last night. If you’re wanting to add a Saturday night destination to your weekend plans, we recommend adding Natalie’s to your list. A pleasant surprise for us was getting to hear The Whirlybirds perform while we enjoyed our meal. The Whirlybirds perform every Saturday night at Natalie’s and with the audience thoroughly enjoying their music, it’s easy to see why. With a bass player, drummer, clarinet/saxophone player, and front man/singer/lead guitarist, this band harkens back to the days of big band music and each of them has a laid back style while thoroughly getting into their music on stage.

Being greeted by The Whirlybirds started our night off on the right step. Next, we ordered an appetizer that was a similar creation to mozzarella sticks, but instead, it was a large ball of goat cheese. This dish was recommended by the two ladies sitting at the nearby table. Once we quickly scarfed down our appetizer, we happily dug into the main course, Capra Nelle More wood fired pizza, which included a blackberry chipotle sauce, goat cheese, light mozzarella, caramelized onions, smoked portobello mushrooms, arugula, and roasted almonds; a perfectly unique combination of flavors. Can you tell we really like goat cheese?!?

Of course, we chose not to skip out on desserts with the baker being in the house, who even personally came to check with us on our orders. Peanut butter pie (we thought tasted like PB cheesecake) drizzled with chocolate and some sort of “sticky chocolate cake” (we think tasted like brownies mixed with blondies) topped with a fresh raspberry were our picks and they were DELICIOUS! Extremely satisfied with our meal, we went to thank the baker, took some photos of the pizza chef tossing the dough, and briefly went outside to get some fresh air.

Making our way back into the restaurant, we entered the music hall, which is a uniquely designed venue with a flashy bar located at the back with what appear like moss covered planets hanging overhead and a neon lit soundwave artistic design placed on the full side wall. We decided to check out the merchant’s table and each picked out a Cactus Blossoms t-shirt. Soon later, Two Runner (a two woman band) opened the show providing one hour of chill folk music mixed with bluegrass. A 15 minute break followed the openers, proceeded by The Cactus Blossoms taking the stage. Every song was a good listen and we were especially pleased that they played “Hey, Baby”, which had a Traveling Wiburys sound. Also, at times, the band may remind one of Bob Dylan or Duane Eddy. We discovered the lead guitarist is quite talented playing a 12 string guitar and his fingerwork can get on fire. We give the whole evening we experienced at Natalie’s an A+!

Pleasant Rainy Afternoon in Columbus!

Just a short trip to Columbus made for a pleasant rainy Saturday afternoon.  Our first stop was at Heritage Square Antiques on Bryce Road, where rows of antiques provide a plethora of opportunities to go down memory lane and encourage learning experiences on times past.  One also may be inspired with home creative home decor and unique finds.  We picked up Parker Brother’s “Masterpiece” board game and the JAWS soundtrack on 8 track.  We were pleased to hear such a clear crisp sound with this 8 track purchase!

Used Kids Records located on Summit St. was our next destination; a fun place to look for a variety of new and used records.  We were especially impressed with their selection of soundtracks!  They even provide the option to give records a listen.  Survivor’s “Eye of the Tiger” & John Carpenter’s “They Live” soundtrack came home with us.  We enjoyed some graffiti art next door as we were leaving too.

Working in an early dinner at Condado on N. High St., we enjoyed some tacos with a wide selection of protein, toppings, and dressings.  This made for a tasty and light meal.  Spotting Lost Weekend Records just across the street from Condado’s, we ventured on visiting this inviting store who’s owner, Kyle, was most helpful and offered interesting and engaging conversation.  Goblin’s “Suspiria” soundtrack, Route 66 themes, and two Rod Stewart albums were vinyls we chose to snatch up at this enjoyable twenty years in the business shop with records in good condition!  Antiques, tacos, and vinyl were a great way to spend a rainy afternoon in Columbus, Ohio.

Death Proof Vinyl 2007 Release

Death Proof is a Quentin Tarantino 2007 American exploitation horror. It stars Kurt Russell as a stuntman who murders young women in staged car accidents using his “death proof” stunt car. It co-stars Rosario Dawson, Vanessa Ferlito, Jordan Ladd, Rose McGowan, Sydney Tamiia Poitier, Tracie Thoms and Mary Elizabeth Winstead, with stuntwoman Zoë Bell as herself. The film pays homage to the slasher, exploitation and muscle car films of the 1970s.

Death Proof was released theatrically in the United States as part of a double feature with Robert Rodriguez’s Planet Terror under the collective title Grindhouse, to recreate the experience of viewing exploitation film double features in a “grindhouse” theater. The films were released separately outside the United States and on DVD, with Death Proof going on sale in the U.S. on September 18, 2007. The film was in the main competition for the Palme d’Or at the 2007 Cannes Film Festival.
